| I have taken a personal loan of amount 320000 from ICICIBank with an EMI of 9234 for 48 months and i have payed 10 months of EMI. I have enquired with the bank about pre-closing this loan and they say that i have to pay 5.6% of the outstanding prinicipal amount extra which comes upto around 15000 Rs. They say i have agreed to this in the loan agreement. Is it legal to charge 5.6% extra for pre-closure. Can I do anything legally to avoid this charges? | |

| It is legal to charge extra for prepaying the personal loan. As told by the bank that it will be mentioned in your loan agreement as well. If it is not mentioned in the loan agreement then you are bound to pay the charge. But if it is mentioned in the agreement then you will have to pay the charge and you cannot do anything to avoid it. | |
