Date : Apr 17, 2008 Question SIR, I AM APPLYING FOR HOME LOAN OF RS. 18 LAKHS (MY ELIGIBILITY) WITH ICICI BANK NEXT WEEK. SIR, I WANT TO TAKE SOME PERSONAL LOAN ALSO TO MEET OTHER EXPENSES WITHOUT AFFECTING MY ELIGIBILITY FOR HOME LOAN. SIR, THOUGH BANKS ARE WILLING TO GIVE ME PERSONAL LOAN UPTO RS. 1.50 LAKH, I AM AFRAID THAT APPLYING FOR PERSONAL LOAN NOW WILL RESULT IN LOWERING OF MY ELIGIBILITY FOR A HOME LOAN WHEN THE BANK COMES TO KNOW ABOUT IT. AT PRESENT, I AM IN A POSITION TO PAY OFF MY PERSONAL LOAN ALSO. SIR, PLEASE ADVICE ME HOW CAN I APPLY FOR A PERSONAL LOAN WITHOUT AFFECTING MY ELIGIBILITY FOR A HOME LOAN OF 18 LAKH. SHOULD I APPLY SIMULTANEOUSLY FOR PERSONAL LOAN WITH HOME LOAN OR SHOULD I APPLY FOR HOME LOAN FIRST AND WAIT TILL THE MONEY HAS BEEN APPROVED (NOT DISBURSED). KINDLY ADVISE SIR. Answer Apply for a personal loan after your home loan is through and it will not affect your home loan eligibility also. But when you apply for a personal loan your home loan will have an impact on your personal loan eligibility.
