Cement price hike, cost up for property buyers

Wednesday,2nd April 2008

Following the hike in price of tiles, yet another hike has been implemented. This might add to the cost of construction and hence the buyer pays more. The cement manufacturers hiked the prices by Rs. 3-5 per 50-kg bag, as most cement dealers in Mumbai said.

According to reports, there has been a Rs. 3 hike in North India, about Rs. 5 hike in Delhi and Rs. 3 in Chennai.

An increase in cement prices was expected, considering the high demand.  Reports say that in north-based cement companies, the input cost per bag increased by Rs. 17 since April 2007 by Rs. 17. The price hike has been only Rs. 11 per bag.
