Setting up of IISER, CDS, Sainik School get funds in Kerela

The 2008 Union Budget has announced setting up an Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER).

The proposed IISER is to be set up in Vithura, about 35 kilometres from Thiruvananthapuram. It is expected to entail an investment of Rs 500 crore.

There is also a proposal to boost research in the plantation sector, also for which Rs 5 crore has been allocated at the Centre for Development Studies (CDS) in Thiruvananthapuram.
