SBI Talent Awards, education loan to rural students

The State Bank of India (SBI) has announced the 'SBI Talent Awards' scheme under which 1 lakh HSC students of 10,000 rural schools will get a cash award of Rs 1,001, and an education loan.

The students receiving the award will have the option of opening a savings account with the bank, with Internet facilities and an ATM card.

SBI has allocated Rs 10 crore for the scheme. The bank will also sanction, in-principle, education loans to rank holders wishing to pursue higher studies. The awards will be given to top three rank holders of the schools under the streams of science, arts and commerce.
