NIFT campus in Kannur

The National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) will set up its centre at Mangattuparamba in Kannur. The centre has campuses in New Delhi, Chennai, Gandhinagar, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Mumbai, Bangalore and Rai Bareli.

Each NIFT centre has its own USP based on the region it is set up in. Kannur is known for its handloom industry and skilled weavers who suffer due to lack of exposure in designing. This potential can be harnessed aid its presence in the textile market. The government has allocated Rs.58 crore for construction of the NIFT campus. The land has been given by the State government.
