Leading American Universities like University of California campuses at Berkeley and San Diego, Carnegie Mellon University, Cornell University and State University of New York at Buffalo, ranked among the best universities in the world, have tied-up with Indian academic institutes led by Amrita Vishwa Vidhyapeetham, ISRO and Department of Science and Technology (DST).

The collaboration is to enhance science and engineering education in India over Edusat, a satellite dedicated for enhancing long-distance education. Three of the leading technology companies in the world, Microsoft, Qualcom and Cadence will be funding the initiative.

Under the agreement, some of these universities will send their best faculty to teach in India to hundreds of colleges and universities via Amrita Vishwa Vidhyapeetham.

The aim is to expose US faculty to potential research partnerships in India and to promote more Indian students to study in US engineering schools.
