The Institute
of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) is set to offer a two-year course to
train second tier of accountants familiar with basics, in the current year. The
minimum educational qualification required is Class 12 and the course fee will be
around Rs 10,000, as against Rs 20,000 for a CA course. ICAI is
yet to get government approval for the course because it's a statutory body set
up through an Act of Parliament. The
course will provide training in basics such as accounting, business law,
taxation, cost accounting and financial management accounting, among others.
The students will get on-job training under a CA for a year. The
program may also be linked to the main CA course so that a student wishing to
pursue CA after completion of this course can appear in the second part of the
professional competence course. Click
