Standard Chartered Bank has filed highest number of default cases

To recover dues from the
defaulters, Standard
Chartered Bank has filed up to 206 cases. This is the highest number of suits
filed by any foreign bank in the country.
CIBIL
has a data of more than 2,500 suits which have been filed against the borrowers
who defaulted in the payment of Rs. One crore or more. Foreign banks like
Ukraine-based Calyon bank filed 16 suits to recover Rs. 57.69 crore whereas
Standard Chartered Bank filed 206 cases to recover about Rs. 1,700 crore. The
Nationalised banks filed around 2,206 suits against defaulters owing about Rs.
17,600 crore. |
