Central Information Commission gives 15 days to SBI card to set up information redressal mechanism

The Central Information Commission (CIC) has said SBI cards, a joint-venture between the State Bank of India (SBI) and GE Money, is a public authority and customers can seek any information about the JV credit card company under the Right to Information Act (RTI). The customers, Arun Kumar Verma and Dileep Ayachit, filed complained to CIC that SBI and the Reserve bank of India (RBI) had turned down their request for information citing SBI cards was not a ‘public authority’ and so was not liable to provide information under RTI.
