Used car prices drop post budget

Prices of second-hand small cars have dropped by nearly 10 per cent after the excise duty on small cars was cut by 4 per cent in Budget 2008-09.

Two-year-old small car prices have dropped 6-7 per cent and three-year-olds by around 5 per cent.

Meanwhile, Maruti Suzuki announced price cuts from Rs 6,500 for the Maruti 800 to Rs 18,030 for the Swift Diesel (ex-showroom Delhi).  

Hyundai slashed prices in the Rs 12,000-Rs 14,000 range on the Santro, Getz and i10.  

General Motors has also lowered prices between Rs 7,500 and Rs 14,000 on the Spark and Aveo UVA variants.
