Toyota to increase capacity 10 times to 6 lakh units

Toyota Motors Corporation, plans to increase its capacity in India 10-fold to 6 lakh by 2015. The company announced the plans in a presentation by its local units managing director Atsushi Toyoshima. Toyota will be joining the other major international automobile giants like Honda Motors Company and General Motors Corporation that have recently announced plans for major capacity expansion. On the other hand, established domestic players like Maruti Udyog and Hyundai Motors India too are building new factories to cope with increased demand. Toyota Motors Indian unit, Toyota Kirloskar Motors Pvt Ltd, manufactures Corolla Sedan and Innova Multi purpose vehicle at its manufacturing facility near Bangalore. And the company imports other brands like Camry sedan and Land Cruiser Prado sports utility vehicles.
