Car sales up by 11%, bike sales fall by 17%

Domestic passenger car sales in July grew by 11.18 per cent at 89,548 units as against 80,543 units in July 2006.

According to figures released by Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM), domestic motorcycle sales in July 2007 went down by 17.25 per cent from 4,53, 52 units in July 2006 to 3,75,004 units. Total two-wheelers sold in India during July 2007 stood at 5, 03,356 units, registering a dip of 9.95 per cent as compared to 5, 58,982 units sold in July 2006.

Domestic sales of commercial vehicles in July 2007 went up by 2.53 per cent at 33,496 units as against 32,670 units in July 2007.
