| I am asking this query on behalf of my uncle. In a reverse mortgage loan scheme can someone ask for the entire loan amount to be disbursed at the beginning as a lump sum? Or is it necessary to take this amount in installments only. My uncle is 74 and he wants this loan to repay the debts his son has taken as he cannot pay that loan from his pension. However he can make his living from his pension. He has a home worth Rs.15 lakh and he wants a loan of Rs.5 lac in lump sum. Can he get a reverse mortgage loan for his requirement? If yes, which bank should he approach? | |

| In case of a reverse mortgage, banks disburse loans in installments. Some banks like LIC housing finance have recently introduced reverse mortgage loan schemes where the loan can be disbursed in lump-sum as well. Senior citizens can avail reverse mortgage loans against their self-owned, self-occupied property. You can appraoch banks like SBI and LIC housing finance for such loans.
