PUNJAB NATIONAL BANK
Established in 1895 at Lahore, Punjab National Bank (PNB)
has the distinction of being the first Indian bank to have been started solely
with Indian capital. The bank was nationalised in July 1969 along with 13 other
banks.
PNB offers a wide variety of banking services which
include corporate and personal banking, industrial finance, agricultural
finance, trade financing, and international banking. Its clients include Indian
conglomerates, medium and small industrial units, exporters, non-resident
Indians and multinational companies.
The PNB branch network in India comprises of 4525 offices
including 432 extension counters.
All branches have been computerized. The Bank has also aggressively
launched the concept of "Any Time, Any Where Banking" through the
introduction of a Centralized Banking Solution (CBS).
PNB has recently introduced an online payment facility for
railway reservation through the IRCTC Payment Gateway Project. It has also
introduced online utility bill payment services that allow account holders to
pay their telephone, mobile, electricity, insurance and other bills online.
The PNB debit card is valid at over 99270 merchant
establishments across the country. It can be used to withdraw cash at over
25000 ATMs in the Maestro payment network, apart from the bank's over 1094 ATMs
and tie-ups with other banks.
