Deutsche Bank opened its first Indian branch in 1980. The bank was initially focused on corporate banking, but became active in retail banking in the 2000s. Deutsche Bank employs over 5000 employees in India and operates 10 branches - Mumbai, Bangalore, Chennai, Kolkata, New Delhi, Noida, Gurgaon, Aurangabad and Kolhapur.

Deutsche Bank is now a full-fledged financial services entity with active presence is global banking, global markets, retail banking, private wealth management and asset management. Its Indian operations have a balance sheet size of over US$4.2 billion.

In retail banking, Deutsche Bank is active in credit cards, home loans, personal loans, loan against property and overdrafts.
