The rise in non-performing loans (NPLs) in consumer credit category has become a cause of concern for financial entities because of the high interest rates they charge.

Interest rates have fallen from their peak and are likely to remain stable, whereas consumer credit quality is likely to weaken further. The pace of retail loan growth is expected to retard due to higher NPLs.
