| I am 22 year-old individual. I completed Standard. XII in the year 2004. After that, I secured my seat for a computer engineering course from Mumbai University. It's a four year course. I had already completed 2 years and then had to leave my course due to some family matters. I am at home now. I have got a letter from BP marine academy www.bpmarineacademy.com. This is a 2-year course, first conducted in Mumbai and the second year in UK. The fee for the entire course is Rs.8, 75, 000 which is to be paid in installments. We don’t file tax returns and my father earns about Rs.7, 000-Rs.8, 000 per month get wasted in house expenses. My father has a life insurance policy of our family for 15 years and 7 years have already passed since the policy was taken. After 15 years, the value of the policy will be Rs.12 lakh or more. Can I get an education loan against LIC policies? | |

| LIC itself will be the best bet to provide a cheap loan on the basis of the surrender value of the policy. The surrender value will depend on the nature of the policy. For the balance loan amount required, you can contact a public sector bank active in your area. It should be possible to get an education loan up to Rs. 4.5 lakh without the need to provide any collateral security. | |
