| I am holding a HDFC Banks Credit Card and my Salary A/c is also with HDFC. I've spent around 13000 from my Credit Card in January 2007. Since then i was paying the Minimum Due amount, but every month the Total Amt Due got increased n today this is near about 25000. this month i got a call from Credit Card department that i have to pay 2850 Rs immediately. After two days i went to Bank to make the payment n i was astonished to see that my Salary A/c was freezed. I want to know, am i Black listed n how can i get my Salary A/c active? Is there any way so that the Credit Card dues can be settled down for lesser amt? | |

| The bank has a legal right to adjust all dues outstanding to it against any other balance that may be lying with it and due to the same consumer. Legally speaking they do not have to consult you before making such an adjustment. However as a normal courtesy most banks will issue you a notice about the amounts outstanding to it before they make such an adjustment. However as already mentioned this is not a legal requirement. Even if your name is reported in the defaulter list still it is always advisable to make the full payment. At least if you make full payment now you will be able to explain genuinity of the reasons why the default happened and the fact that you actually cleared all of it and have some chances of getting credit at decent terms in future. | |
