| I had a ABN AMRO credit card and had stopped making payments for the last 4-5 months as I was not receiving statements. On 29th January, 2008, I approached ABN AMRO BANK FOR CLOSING MY CREDIT CARD. My total outstanding balance was Rs. 1,29000 (approx) and they offered to close the card for Rs. 1,03,000 which I duly did. Related to this I have the following queries: 1. As I've given an amount that is less than the total outstanding, is ABN AMRO likely to pursue me for the balance now or any time in the future. 2. Will ABN AMRO report me as a defaulter because I've paid less amount? If they've already done so, how do I get them to rectify it? 3. ABN AMRO is refusing to give me a copy of my Credit Information Report. What are my options? 4. I suspect that ABN AMRO entered my name in the CIBIL database? Can I confirm this in any way? Now that the outstanding amount has been paid, how I remove my name from the CIBIL dispute. | |

| Your name would already have been remarked as a defaulter to the credit bureau as you have entered into a settlement with the bank. You cannot remove your name from CIBIL. Still we will advise you to pay off the full dues of the bank along with the penal interest, At least if you make the full payment now you will be able explain the default cause to the future lender and have some chances of getting loans or credit card at decent terms in future.
