| I never got the monthly statement from HDFC bank, but just a reminder call and their person used to come and collect the money. I didnt update my address when I shifted to different city. They contacted me for payment..I did it, even then my card remained blocked. When I was not able to get any other credit card I came to know that they have declared me as a defaulter. I was hardly using the card and would have closed it formally in case I knew that they are going to list me with CIBIL. Then the chain of threatening calls started from their collection people, amount was 14000. I requested for statement/settlement of the card several times, but that was not reciprocated. Finally, I mailed them asking for a settlement. They asked how much I can pay, I said I can pay the full amount if they de-list me from CIBIL. Else I shall pay 10K and close it. They say either is OK with them and they'll issue a commitment letter that they'll de-list me, on the day I make the payment. Please advice. | |

| Even if you make full payment, your name from CIBIL cannot be de-listed. It stays in the Credit bureau for 7 years.But it is always advisable to pay off the full dues of the bank along with all the penal interest. The reason is at least if you make the full payment now you will be able to explain the genuinity of the reasons why the default happened and have some chances of getting credit at decent terms in future. | |
